So the final league games of the season provided us with games against local rivals. If the rumour mills are true then this was a historic game for the first team at home to Witney Swifts. Swifts won the toss and elected to field. Connor Tinsley led the way with a fine 61 well supported by our deep batting line up, finishing on 227 for 8 in our 50 overs. In reply Swifts only managed 98 , Zak Jarvis 6 for 19 seeing off any challenge to our score. A true mid table finish for the first team and congratulations to East Oxford who pipped Sandford St Martin to the Division 2A title by just 2 points.

Second XI rowed upstream to Swinbrook but the current proved too much as we were bowled out for 87 including 29 from Seamus Rowles. Swinbrook reached their total losing just the one wicket. A third from bottom finish which should mean we get to play another season in Division 5A. Congratulations to champions Wroxton first XI in this division.

Our Third XI game was moved out west where Shipton won the toss and scored 219 for 8 in their 40 overs, Rufus Jones 3 for 45. In reply we reached 119 , only Greg Shutie with 63 not out offering any resistance. After a blistering start to the season where we raced into an early lead we eventually finished 5th, not helped by ground problems. We will come back stronger next season. Congratulations to Wroxtons second XI for winning Division 9A.

There is more cricket to come at Wash Meadow this weekend . On Sunday (13th) Oxenford provide the opposition for our Sunday Sharks to close the season.

On 19th September we will be doing those end of season jobs and on 2nd October its our annual dinner and presentation evening at Burford Golf Club.
