It is a privilege to lead Minster Lovell Cricket Club into another season. The club continues to grow, and 2026 presents a real opportunity to push on across all three senior sides.

Our league ambitions are clear.

The First XI will be looking to challenge at the top end of Cherwell League Division 2A.
The Second XI aims to establish itself in Division 5A after last season’s well-earned promotion.
The Third XI will continue its focus on developing players, strengthening depth and experiencing competitive cricket in Division 9A.
As always, we expect movement between sides based on form, improvement, and availability.

The three senior captains remain unchanged:

1st – Olly Mersh
2nd – Tony Gardner
3rd – Jake Mawson
Tony will once again captain the Sunday side, and James Mutton will manage our midweek friendlies, which begin in earnest after our All Stars and Dynamos programmes finish on Friday evenings.

Our winter nets kick off on Monday 26th January and will run through to late March. I am pleased to announce that Aaron Lee will lead coaching this year. Aaron brings strong experience and a high playing pedigree, and I’m confident our senior sessions will benefit from his input

The club continues to place a strong emphasis on developing young players. We expect to see more juniors stepping confidently into senior cricket this season, and we’ll support that pathway at every level.

Off the field, we are renewing our push for sponsors… large or small. If you know organisations who might back their local club, point them our way.

We are also actively searching for a dedicated First XI scorer. This role is compensated and is open to anyone with an interest in cricket. Training and support will be provided.

Safeguarding remains a core priority. Our Safeguarding Officer, Rachel Beynon, is available should anyone have questions or concerns.

Finally, we always welcome new players, whether returning to cricket, changing clubs or taking it up for the first time.
