MLCC INCLUSIVE CRICKET
MINSTER LIONS
Last year for the Lions appeared to have returned to
something near normality. The weather was as erratic as ever
but enjoyment levels remained constantly high. Once again
Mark and I would like to praise the resilience of the parents,
carers and youngsters involved.
The aftermath of the pandemic brought a very quiet
“competitive” season but that will be addressed this year
as Oxford CC have already reached out to seek out our
unrivalled experience in inclusive cricket to assist them in
forming their own group. Even the OCB have commenced
“disability” workshops at which Minster Lovell CC will be
present to hopefully acquire new links. Better late than never!
Watch this space.
Winter nets for 2023 are coming to a close at the end of
March but it is hoped to put on a couple of extra sessions in
the Easter break. This will enable our regulars to show off their
undoubted skills to those returning from residential settings. It
will be good to catch up with old friends. Mark and I feel very
privileged to have been a very small part of the lives of these
cricketers and long may it continue. Elsewhere in this booklet
you might find other coaches pleading for more players but
within the Lions, any onward step by our cricketers feels like
a huge fillip to us personally. However, we would very much
like to spread our enjoyment to as many people as possible.
We look forward to welcoming new members in the summer.
Minster Lovell is a very inclusive club so all are welcome
whatever level. Similarly new volunteers will also be gratefully
received.
We would like to thank Minster Lovell CC for their support and
Rob for having the ability to steer numerous heavy machines
around the square whilst avoiding unpredictable cricketers
hitting the ball to all parts. Dave and Lyn Lewis also remain
as our very generous sponsors and donors. The proceeds from
their Presidents Day last August will hopefully enable us to get
to other grounds for fixtures or to host like minded groups in
the coming season.
Finally, it is with heart felt condolences that I give you the sad
news that a beloved mum of one of our youngsters passed
away in the winter after a short but tough illness. RIP Debbie,
gone far too soon.
Bring on the sunshine.
David & Mark
